Who:
  • State department of education staff who work in health education, physical education, and/or any component of school health and/or the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model.
 
  • Professionals who work outside of state departments of education, support school health initiatives, and the vision and mission of the Society. This may include staff in health agencies, federal governmental agencies, national non-governmental organizations, local education agencies, universities, and businesses.
Why: The Society of State Leaders of Health and Physical Education utilizes advocacy, partnerships, professional development, and resources to build the capacity of school health leaders to implement effective health education and physical education policies and practices that support success in school, work, and life. At this event, participants will:

 
  • Strengthen relationships among staff within state departments of education who provide leadership in the arenas of school health, health education, physical education/physical activity, and the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child approach.
 
  • Build capacity of state school health leaders to implement effective policies, programs, and practices that support success in school, work, and life.
 
  • Build partnerships with colleagues and key stakeholders to share and leverage resources for school health.
