Youth development programs are important to helping
young people grow to be healthy, self-confident adults. Such programs
are often based in or linked to schools, community groups, or faith communities.
Examples include extracurricular activities in school, interscholastic
athletics, community centers, civic clubs, and church and synagogue youth
groups.
