The National Stakeholders Collaborative (NSC), comprised of the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP), the National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD), the National Coalition of STD Directors (NCSD), and the Society of State Directors of Health, Physical Education & Recreation (SOCIETY), presents a webinar highlighting state-wide efforts to address HIV, STD, and pregnancy prevention among youth in foster care. On Thursday, April 8th, from 3-4:30pm (EST) the NSC will host a webinar featuring:The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, and the Safe Harbor Project, in a discussion of state strategies to address the sexual health of this population. The goal of this professional development opportunity is to provide background information on risk factors experienced by youth in foster care, raise awareness of current state efforts to meet the needs of this population, as well as discuss challenges and obstacles faced when engaging in this work.

Ms. Itege Bailey, Senior Manager, State and Local Outreach, with the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, will serve as our opening speaker. Ms. Bailey will discuss the National Campaign's Teen Pregnancy Prevention among Youth in Foster Care Multi-State Project. Since April 2009, this initiative has engaged eight states in action planning around pregnancy prevention for youth in foster care. Robin McHaelen, Executive Director of True Colors, has tentatively confirmed to speak about the Safe Harbor Project, a collaboration between the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, the Connecticut Association of Foster and Adoptive Parents (CAFAP), and True Colors, Inc.
