The President's Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS and the Office of National AIDS Policy...

The issues facing youth living with and at risk for HIV are complex.
Young adults and teens ages 13 through 29 accounted for 34% of new HIV infections that occurred in 2006, the largest share of any age group.
The development and implementation of the National HIV AIDS Strategy
(NHAS) and other national efforts should be reflective of the particular issues facing youth. The President's Advisory Council on HIV and AIDS
(PACHA) will be monitoring the development and implementation of the NHAS over the next few years.

Youth & youth advocates, including AIDS Alliance for Children Youth & Families are circulating a sign on letter, requesting that PACHA establish a Youth Advisory Board of youth & youth providers. This group will identify systemic and structural barriers that make it difficult for youth to access preventive, health care, treatment, and supportive HIV/AIDS services and programs. This expert group will also offer possible solutions on issues that include consent and insurance coverage, primary and secondary prevention among youth, behavioral and biomedical research among youth populations and transitioning from pediatric care into general adult care.

Please review the proposed sign-on letter addressed to the President's Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS and the Office of National AIDS Policy and sign on to the letter on the next page by June 2, 2010 to show your support!
