Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT)

The Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT) can help school districts,   schools, and others conduct a clear, complete, and consistent analysis of health   education curricula based on the National Health   Education Standards and CDC’s Characteristics   of Effective Health Education Curricula. The HECAT results can help schools   select or develop appropriate and effective health education curricula and   improve the delivery of health education. The HECAT can be customized to meet   local community needs and conform to the curriculum requirements of the state or   school district.     CDC HIV/AIDS Update

New Web Features Added to www.nineandahalfminutes.org

CDC has added new web tools   and content to the Nine and Half Minutes Web site so that visitors can share information and show   support for HIV prevention through personal websites or social networking   pages. Please support these efforts and join us in putting HIV/AIDS back on the   national radar screen! Although HIV/AIDS affects certain populations   disproportionately, the epidemic is an issue for all of us in the United States.   As such, we share a collective responsibility to address it.

New Web Tools

Buttons, badges,   banners, and PSAs
You can download   buttons, badges, and banners to MySpace pages or post them to your personal   website. You can also download and post our testing widget, which allows you to   find HIV testing sites in your area, using your zip code. Also, please view and   share our public service announcements (recorded in English and Spanish) to help   spread the message.

Share your   Story
Another new web tool is the "Share your   Story" section of the Website. Sharing personal stories is a simple,   effective way to increase awareness of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the United   States and become part of the solution. By sharing your story, you can   help to increase awareness, reduce stigma, and promote HIV education, knowledge,   and testing. Stories are written in the first person, signed only with your   first name, and illustrate true-life issues about the realities of HIV   prevention, including topics like risky behavior, condom use, talking to your   partner about sex, and getting tested. Visit the Website and learn how to share   your story.

Email   signature
Adding a badge or a link to the Website www.nineandahalfminutes.org to   your email signature is a quick and easy way to show your support for HIV   prevention and spread the message that in the United States, every 9½ minutes   someone is infected with HIV.

New Content

Voices of   Experience
The Voices of Experience project features videos of persons living   with HIV/AIDS speaking about their personal experiences. These taped interviews   are two to three minutes in length and can be shared with others.
